The Do Better, Feel Better Philosophy

Stress and overwhelm are everywhere. More and more of us are struggling with the rigours of modern life. Juggling work, home, family, friends and trying to find time for yourself in all that, takes its toll. It is no wonder that more and more women each year are suffering with common mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression.

The problem is that there’s just Too. Much. Stuff. Especially for those of us fighting to run our own businesses. Sales, marketing, socials, accounting, legal, tax, banking… and that’s before you even get to the work itself. Even on the days when you somehow get it all done, there’s still a truckload more work waiting around the corner!

So, what to do? Well, if you want your business to thrive, you’re going to have to drown out all the white noise. You are going to have to hold yourself ACCOUNTABLE for doing the work that needs to be done, when it needs to be done. That’s where I come in! I teach ambitious women like you how to set winning goals and build a life that works for you and your business.

Why do we do this? Because we know from personal experience, that when you do better, you FEEL better. Nothing beats the satisfaction of a job well done, except knowing that you have mastered the skills required to repeat that success time and time again. So, what are you waiting for?

Ngozi Weller

Managing Director

Ngozi Weller is a management training consultant and productivity and work-life balance coach who helps female entrepreneurs grow profitable businesses without going insane in the process. She teaches ambitious women with big dreams how to set winning goals and build a life that works for them and their business.

Having worked for over 15 years in the world of Big Oil, Ngozi has experienced first-hand how challenging the corporate world can be for women, especially for those who have families to support. Having started her business following her own battle with depression and anxiety, she has a soft spot for those willing to brave it on their own.

When she's not doling out advice, she can be found sitting mute on the sofa watching tv with her husband or refereeing fights between her two kids. She is an avid cook and a lover of music, singing weekly in her church choir. She is a skilled writer and has her own blog as well as having featured in guest blogs and magazines.

Having struggled with work related anxiety and depression myself, I know what you’re going through. I also know that you can come through it stronger and better than ever. Let me show you how.

Obehi Alofoje

Operations Director

Obehi Alofoje is a qualified psychologist and stress management coach who works with high-achieving millennial women who can’t figure out how to stop procrastinating. She has worked with over 600 clients to help them overcome self-sabotaging and unhelpful mindset and behaviours. She teaches business owners simple productivity tricks to get things done, so that they can grow profitable and successful businesses.

Following the trauma of three family bereavements, as well as professional burnout, Obehi uses her psychology and coaching skills in a purposeful way to help women build the inner resilience that could enable them to ride through any adversity. She believes that every woman has the right to a fulfilling life, where she realises her own potential, works productively, and can make a positive contribution to her community.

When she’s not helping people run their world, she’s travelling the world, one corner at a time, sampling mouthfuls of yummy local cuisines.

The Aurora Fundamentals.

At Aurora we believe that good mental health and wellbeing is as fundamental to life as good physical health. We believe that you should not have to fight your demons alone. And we believe that you have the right to a fulfilling career, personal life and purpose.

Pause. Think. Act.

Pause. Think. Act. We know that these are the three key steps to creating lasting change. We call these three steps “the pillars of wellbeing” and every course that we run falls into at least one of these categories. Our programmes are designed to enable you to pause, think and act to resolve your key life challenges, taking you from reflection to action.

Pause

First things first – Pause. The Pause step encourages awareness about what’s really going on with you. It provides you with the space required to listen to your inner self. If you truly want to improve your life and create lasting change, then you need to give yourself the freedom to do so. Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s about saying “me too” not “me first!”. You cannot pour from an empty cup – you must look after yourself before you can give good care to the special others in your life.

Think

Next step – Think. This phase is about your ‘personal audit’ – an honest and objective examination of your past, present and future. To know where you’re going, you need to know where you’ve been. Acknowledge your limiting beliefs and recognise your inner bully. Together we will fashion effective weapons to silence them for good. Once you have come to terms with who you are, then you can dare to dream of who you might become. We encourage the most creative part of you to emerge with possibilities, solutions and ideas.

Act

And finally, Act. The Act phase is about taking action to ensure lasting change. It is all well and good to dream, but you want to see those dreams become reality! This requires audacity, boldness, courage… and a plan. At Aurora we know that failing to plan is planning to fail, and we are determined to see you succeed. We specialise in breaking your dreams down into SMART goals : targets that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-based. Now, let’s get started!

Helen Counsell

Helen Counsell

Helen Counsell is a manager, training consultant and counsellor who can demonstrate tools and techniques to help women make decisions, take control of their own lives and make things happen for themselves. She has a wide range of life experiences, running her own business and working for both independent businesses and large corporates. She understands the pressures women face in the workplace and has direct experience of the barriers and difficulties of returning to work after taking several years out of a career.

Helen suffered severe anxiety during a difficult divorce and has spent the last 5 years focusing on rebuilding a “home” for her two teenagers. After attending the pilot Aurora WonderWoman Workshop in 2018 she chose to take control of her life and is taking positive steps to make changes and prepare for the next phase of her life and improve her own wellbeing. Helen worked as a volunteer counsellor for 8 years until she gave up her permanent job to pursue her dream, accepting a part time job as counsellor and supervisor at Childline and joining the team at Aurora Wellness.

Rita Edah

I’m a qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist, certified Life Coach, NLP Practitioner, mentor, author and mum. I’ve played very many different roles in my life and one thread is recurrent – empowering people, helping people gain new perspectives, see new opportunities, overcome barriers, gain new skills, find new opportunities… one way or another, I tend to support people at various stages of their life journeys… Today, I specialise in skillfully working with people to get unstuck. If you feel stuck – in any area of your life – I can work with you to get unstuck. If you feel lost and confused, I can walk with you to find your way. If you have lost your voice and want it back, I can work with you to find it, and use it, if that’s your desire. This has been my personal journey… going from ‘yuck and stuck’ to growing in my fabulous freedom. I have not travelled it all by myself. I have invested in professional support along the way and will continue to do so as an important part of my personal self-care and growth package. In my work, I offer a non-judgmental relationship that is based on trust, respect and acceptance.

And thus began a long love affair with the human mind and the therapeutic process.
